As you may recall, I was quite upset that Ratatouille won the Oscar for best Animated Feature after seeing Persepolis. At that point I had never seen Ratatouille, but common, Persepolis was socially relevant, made for adults, 2-D, and all around amazing! It was a more IMPORTANT film than a film about talking rats who cook, as fun as that may be.

But today I gave the rat a shot. It was a beautiful looking film, the story was ok, and overall I liked it, but it was NOT Oscar worthy. And while I respect Pixar (with the exception of Cars), the only reason they won the Oscar is because they are Pixar. But then again, Happy Feet beat out Monster House (an AMAZING film) in ‘06, so maybe the Acadmey Awards are just full of shit, at least when it comes to animated films.
