inkdick: august 24 2008 - the olympics are over
I will miss the Olympics. Yes, not all my teams (Lithuania basketball) won medals, but it was still great this year. I don’t care too much for the Winter Games, so it’ll be a long four years of waiting. The opening was beautiful and breath-taking, but I think it was more powerful to see all the countries come in and celebrate together with all the athletes intermixing. THAT is the spirit of the games. The spirit of one world. Unity. Tomorrow we will all go back to our normally scheduled program of hating each other and going to war with each other. Sigh.
It was a very good two and a half weeks of always having something to watch on t.v. At least we still have the DNC coming up in a few days.

yup…
.
and China DID exceed ALL expectations for the spectacle and order in hosting the Games…
.
they even shut down factories to purify the normal smog that engulfs Peiking..
.
Hmm… just shows what a totalitarian regime can accomplish, when they can ORDER their population to provide the man/woman power to ensure results…
.
this would NEVER happen in the good ole USofA…,
.
but then…. I would rather live here, than there… no?
