To clear things up, show time: Sabrina and another girl got a dog together as co-owners a few months ago, Sabrina moved out of her place with the other person and moves into my place without the dog and the other person gets to keep the dog, other person goes on vacation so Sabrina dog sits him, other person moves to a place that doesn't allow dogs so Sabrina gets to keep the dog under the rule in this house that SHE is the one who has to take care of it, train it, clean up after it, pay for it, all that.

I guess this is the relevant strip?
http://ghostcarpress.com/inkdick/2008/08/18/inkdick-august-18-2008-dont-bark/

Who's the other half of the "owner"?
You guys? Or is it that girl?
Am confused on who the "half-owner" is that moved to a non-pet place...
Assuming it's someone else than that girl on the strip,
then is she taking the dog out every morning and afternoon/night?
Feeding the dog promptly?

I don't know whether the dog just made a little careless mistake,
or whether it's just not being taken care of properly.

That other roommate still lives with you guys? (That white girl who I vaguely remember seeing on your cartoon strip from like a month ago?) So perhaps the blame for the shit should be on that roommate, not Maverick. A dog absolutely needs to be taken out for shit, or else it needs to be trained to poop at a set place. I assume the latter is not done, the former is an absolute. You and your roommate needs to find an arrangement on outing time. If the roommate is not around, then someone else needs to take the dog out, or else, what can the dog do? You expect a dog to keep the shit contained, for god knows how long, until the roommate comes back, god knows when? Again, all this is based on a few assumptions! Perhaps Maverick was taken out promptly that morning, fed accordingly, treated well, but still pooped at home, due to lack of discipline.

well, show time, he is NOT our dog, he belongs to our other roommate. We told her that when she brought the dog into this house that she was going to be the one responsible for it, that includes taking him out to shit. Sure, if we have the spare time, we'll let him out or play with him or whatever, but it is NOT our responsibility and we are not going to go out of our way to take care of him, as it's not our dog. That is the job of his owner, not us.

Do you take him out regularly? Do you feed him properly? A dog has its habit of outings when they are usually expected to poop. I guess at least once in the morning, and once in the afternoon, perhaps even another at night, depends on the dog. Either that dog got no habituation to pooping at certain outing cycle, or you may not be taking him out enough or at the right timing of the day...
