inkdick: october 22 2008 - we’re all totally fucked
So, how about that financial crisis, eh?
I love NPR, but in these horrible, horrible times we live in, sometimes I think I should just stop listening to the news altogether, as it causes me to freak out a lot. Seriously. These are horrible times we live in. And we are all fucked. FUCKED. They say the unemployment rate might go up to as high as 8%. I’m currently helping with that statistic.
I sometimes ask myself, do I ever want to someday have a child and bring him or her into such a shithole of a world? Maybe by the time I’m 30 things will be better. But at this rate…
Ironically Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” came up on random on my iTunes.

Welcome to the frenzy, hehe. Economy is a swing. It’s the usual ride, probably. Perhaps we’re in something deeper, perhaps. In anycase, we’re too often used to “the economy that keeps growing”, or to “the glorious American economy”. Recessions help put things in context, and reorganize, either the socio-political institutions, the culture of people, or a bit of sector economies. Hopefully more than just a few firms and control mechanisms.
I think it’s wonderful for kids to grow up seeing economic turmoils, as long as they have the chance to see adaptations, and rebuilding. It sucks to just see things fall apart and never recover. Wars and traumas.
A lot of “modernity” involves assuring a certain life cycle. It’s the artificially guaranteed cycle of seasons and agriculture. A way to numb our survival instincts, and the impulse to construct new survival systems, and imaginative culture of reassurance.
America will bounce back, and we can be part of the success. That’s perhaps the best part of the “American spirit”. The fight’s on.

Check it out; this is not the first time we are f——. This is how things go; we are in a swing. I totally agree with show time. The recession is a cleansing mechanism. Maybe, we won’t take things for granted and assume that you can buy all you want and eventually pay for it! Too many were riding the high life, which they should have not been riding. Now, is the time not to panic but keep a level head. It will turn around and America can become better for it. Trust me, I have seen it happen before. I am an old dude and my years of experience have shown this to me true. But, remember, we all have to keep a level head about this; but, wouldn’t it be nice if we could learn from our mistakes.

“They say the unemployment rate might go up to as high as 8%. I’m currently helping with that statistic.”
NO! u r NOT in the statistics:
U have to be REGISTERED for unemployment and actively seeking work to be in the statistics.
…
hmm….. maybe u r in the “Shadow” unemployed category…
…
8% + “shadown” unemployment is > 16%, 20%…. or even >
