inkdick: october 23 2008 - chicken bone

While drawing this strip I decided that I shall call this cat Chicken Bone.

He was so proud of himself as he crossed the street, his mind only on the prize in his mouth.

Good ol’ Chicken Bone.

Also in other news: in order to get healthier I am biking 4 miles everyday.

I commend you on your exercise program. Exercise is a way to keep the mind open as you get oxygen to get the blood flowing threw your veins; the ones that feed the brain, too. Nice touch with Chicken bones.

4 miles biking is a nice habit. If you can find a safe route, you may want to time yourself sometimes. I exercise a lot and I notice that some consideration of intensity can be crucial.

Cat wise, man you’re, hrm, straight up soft? I mean, as South Park have also pounded in our? heads, cats and dog scenes are the cheapest way to gain sympathy or a general sense of warming.

As a indie comic strip, I’d have wished for a little twist. But even generally speaking, a cat with a chicken bone reminds me of the numerous birds fallen to the tactful attack of a cat, or the corpse of birds cleared up by the recycling mouth of street animals + insects.

At best, a cat with a bone is symbol of spoiled city animals, just eating off the garbage of the spoiled city people.

In anycase, cats are a wondrous bunch. Smart. Maintaining their healthy hunter instincts, while allying with the human civilization to eat off of their savings. There’s much to learn from them.

Um, sorry Showtime that my life doesn’t have twists in it. In case you haven’t noticed, this is a journal comic. JOURNAL comic. As in, I draw things that happen in my everyday life. If you want a comic with twists or whatever either make one yourself or read a work of fiction.

C’mon. Surely one cyborg wouldn’t hurt.

No problem Pranas. It’s just my comment. I don’t have to limit myself to one comic. Should I keep changing my choice of frequentation whenever it isn’t perfect? I’d say no. I’d end with nothing in life, not even myself. (Besides, I was talking just about that minute scene of your life, and not your entire life…)

Anyways, going back to the comment exchange. It’s about your life, I know. But you pick the part of your life you want, it’s not like a 24H minute by minute comic that includes everything.

Also, how you react/edit is a matter of your sense, that can change. This time you thought it was cute. Perhaps next time you’ll stop and say “hey, perhaps I can imagine where the bone came from, and what it means…” or notice something else, the color of the cat’s eyes that reminded you of an interesting car… Or you can express “that’s cute” in another way.

You don’t have to take my reaction as a worthwhile sample, reference, reminder, or advice. But if you want to become a professional cartoonist, I think getting a wide range of comments is helpful, for your art, that includes your personality.

Whether you draw your life or your ideas, it’ll come down to your sensitivities. And it’s tough to be both “arguably right” without going in depth, and “widely interesting”. What’s done is done. There is a next time though. All the reactions you get is a new layer of sensations that may help refine your views in life, and your expression/editing of it later on.

    Later that cat was dead!

No no. But one of my neighborhood cats just turned up dead as a doornail outside my house.

I’d stare down that kitty as he crossed the street. I agree, kittens with food in their mouths are soo cuuute! :3
