inkdick: october 29 2008 - nov. 4th on my mind
The election has been on my mind lately. Well, it has ALWAYS been on my mind, but it’s getting more intense as we go into the final week before the big day. I’m starting to get nervous and worried. Yes, polls are showing that Obama is most likely going to win this thing. BUT, I can’t let my guard down yet. Anything can happen in the next 6 days.
That, and the anticipation is killing me! In less than a week we will know who the next President is! In less than a week we will know if I’ll be actually proud to be an American or if I should start looking into Canadian citizenship (I really don’t want to leave, all my stuff is here!).
The next week is going to be filled with stress and worry. Oh geez, I really hope Obama wins!
Make sure you all go out and VOTE and vote EARLY if you live in a state that allows it as poll lines will be LONG come November 4th! And to any readers who are eligible to vote but didn’t register to vote or will choose not to vote in this election: You are dumbasses. Seriosuly. FUCKING VOTE!

man, i know how you feel. i don’t care how far ahead obama is in the polls, it’s still scary. and i sure hope we actually know who won in a week! i’m kinda afraid of a 2000 type deal… another reason to hope obama wins by a lot.

Why do you hope Obama wins? Do you WANT America to turn into a socialist nightmare state?
(… kidding!)

Obama will likely win. But McCain will be fine. American presidency swings. Rather than a matter of candidacy, the issue may be, again, that of American federation and presidency. The error was made in the beginning. And we’ll be okay as long as most Americans retain a sense of social fairness and a respect for success by effort, with the details being endlessly argued between R and D factions following two legitimate but different traditions of American politics… The constant identity of America remains to be set… Meanwhile, the side with the most babies will win the swing game…

I’m not one to go against exercising democratic rights, but I feel that if someone doesn’t vote, or doesn’t feel like it, then most likely they shouldn’t anyway. I stress that people should be informed before they vote. As much as it seems noble and American to vote, voting without a straight reason other “just doing my part” is very dangerous (though the Electoral College does lessen that quite a bit). I mean, it wouldn’t seem fair to have 80% of the voters be uninformed and win out over the 20% who took the time to decide who they cast their ballot for and why.
Whether you’re Republican or Democrat; conservative or liberal; etc., I think that voting for someone who you truly believe will improve our country trumps over “Well, I’ll vote Democrat because my favorite celebrity promotes their candidate” or “I’ll vote Republican because my parents always have.”
