inkdick: december 18 2008 driving solo
Driving 8 plus hours by yourself is not fun. At all. Even if you’re doing all the driving yourself it would at least be bearable if there was someone there to talk to and share the experience with. Oh well.
And I can’t really complain about the lack of cruise control since I got the second-hand car for free. But still, it would save my leg on long drives like this one.

I find that books on CD can make that kind of thing approach some semblance of bearability, if you’re into that kind of thing.

I let my podcast backlog build up too, that always helps for long trips.

I totally feel your pain! I love my manual car - but god, it would be nice to have cruise control for the drives between Muncie/Chicago/Minneapolis

I’ve switched from books on tape to radio dramas. They’re super great.

Oh, lately I use podcasts. Lots of good NPR and science stuff. It makes the drive better, but still no replacement for a human being at your side.
