CNN

Well, CNN ran an article about comic strips in newspapers and my mom posted a comment about comics and linked to Inkdick (her comment is the first comment under the article). It’s kind of embarrassing (ok, REALLY embarrassing) having my mom do publicity for me, but it apparently got me an assload of hits, so…I guess it worked.

I’d like to welcome all of you who came over from that link and hope you like what you see. I have over eight months worth of comics up for you to read through and I try to update with a new comic everyday. This is a journal comic, so you won’t always find punchlines and gags here, but instead I try to capture the rhythm and beats of everyday life which people seem to enjoy. So if you like what you see please keep reading or add Inkdick to your RSS reader using the ’subscribe’ button near the top of the page. And again, thanks for stopping by.

Hah, that’s awesome — although slightly embarrassing I admit. Hi btw, I’ve been reading your comic since I heard of it through SEQAlab (in turn found through Webcomics Weekly), so I guess I can say I knew of it before you were famous. Enjoying it greatly, very inspirational (I have a webcomic of my own). Keep up the good work!

First, Isabelle S., my condolences on your son’s choice of schools. I live in Savannah and you don’t want to know what the locals think about SCAB…er…SCAD. Hope he does well in spite of it. His e-strip looks promising, if that means anything….”

Take a hit, NO matter where it’s from!…:P

Found my way here through your Mom’s comment on CNN.com as well … Started at the beginning and read through the archives all in one swoop last night. Good stuff.

Wow its like we live in parallel universe, and crazy enough the way you talk about Amy its like your talking about Bonnie ( my wife ). I enjoy your journal for two reasons, one I went to school for commercial arts and design and I love to draw and second things were almost the same for me when I was your age – I am 30 now but feel 22. been robed, lived in a crappie town nothing to do but anyways I found my way over here from the CNN thing also, your mom is sweet putting your name out there and she is right you do have talent and I will be stopping by to see what you post in the future. Funny stuff and screw the dog next door

Hey Chorus: I DO know what SCAD folks think of the locals…
    .
the locals and the SCAD people seem to “feed on each other”… it seems to be a symbiotic relationship… :P:P:P

    lol

Pranas, you shouldn’t be embarrassed…your webcomic is solid, and really lack of readership is probably one of your biggest weaknesses.

people like Kel make advertising their own webcomics an absolute priority…and it shows in the level of traffic she gets.

perhaps a little research and advertising to key niches that would really take to your comic would pay off in your own ammount of traffic.

and before you say you aren’t sure what your target demographic is…I think your comic transcends several different boundaries.
-its a comic about surviving as an artist, in particular a cartoonist
-its a comic about having family away in Iraq
-its a comic about being named Pranas and having various crappy things happen to you (I think several people can relate to this… I think we all have an inner Pranas)

Hey Pranas, that’s awesome. The older I get, the more I appreciate support from parents (especially since I still seem to need it! argh). Have you considered putting up a profile at webcomicsinc? I’m new to this myself but it’s a pretty supportive group and I get a decent amount of traffic coming in from there. I have a group for slice-of-life comics that’s gotta some pretty cool members, if you’re interested in joining.

hey pranai- love the premise of your website…your obviously really talented and I like that you keep at it everyday. That’s the battle as an artist, as well as doing it on your own terms. I dont know if you remember ever meeting me, but we’re relatives on your dad’s side….anyhow, I remember you always doing the comics and that you were great at it. really great to see how it has manifested! keep at it!
