inkdick: january 21 2009 shitty first draft
I got to the half way point (or at least what I THINK is the half way point) of my script for my graphic novel that I’m working on. I’m now starting to freak out about it. The script isn’t as good as I was hoping it would be. Running into pacing problems and placement of scenes. But I keep going back to the advice of my two creative writing teachers in high school Mr Hoefler and Mrs. Hailey. They always said just write the “shitty first draft” and then after that go back and revise. The first draft is always supposed to be shitty. So I gotta keep on writing and keep stopping myself from freaking out.
I’ll let myself freak out once I get to the second draft.

Which will be more exciting– The graphic novel or the comic strip about the making of the graphic novel…?

Oh, I hope the graphic novel ends up being more exciting.
