inkdick: february 01 2009 steelers win the super bowl

I lived three years of my youth in the Pittsburgh area, and while it was only three years it was enough time to make my blood run black and gold. So obviously this Super Bowl was a big deal for me. Amy’s and Andy’s families are also Steeler fans, so our whole house was black and gold today.

Damn what a game. My heart was racing during the last five minutes. I’m sure I’ll die earlier as a result of it.

Now, I’m glad that the Cardinals lost, but I have to tip my hat to them. Usually with the Super Bowl you know who’s going to win by the end of the 3rd quarter, but not this time. The Cardinals helped give us the most exciting Super Bowl of my life time and they played a great game. Also, they were very gracious losers, unlike the fucking Patriots when they lost last year. The Cardinals had class about it. And for all that the Cardinals have my respect.

But fuck yeah my Steelers won! I waved my Terrible Towel with pride today!

MAN that was a great game. I severely exacerbated my sore throat in the last few minutes and I am paying for it now :( But it was WORTH IT.

While watching the Super Bowl I thought of the Bills and how the blew the first of the four Super Bowls they played in during the early ’90’s. Thank goodness the Steeler pulled it off at the end. Now, that the Steelers won I can say it was an excellent game. Yes, the Cardinals showed true sportsmanship. Commercials were OK; nothing to get excited about, though. The Boss sounded good considering he had 12 minutes to perform. Although, a few times I thought he was going to slide off the stage and into the crowd. So, thank the heavens the Steelers won. Now, maybe next year is the Buffalo Bills turn (?) I still say “Go Bills”

So you’re only going to make it to 86 years old then?

That said, it was a great game. Very exciting. And this is coming from someone that isn’t too into football.

Generally, I’m not really into sports… It’s not for me.
But I must say, that WAS an impressive game!

I have no allegiance to either team, but I was rooting for the Cardinals. Still, it was indeed a game worthy of the title “Super Bowl” unlike most of the games played in it. Even, I have to admit, Bruce Springsteen put on a stellar performance. And I really hate his music.

And I don’t remember seeing a player go from MVP of the game (the 100-yd run interception) to being cursed after he started beating one of the Cardinal players on the ground.
