inkdick: february 11 2009 lump

Amy found a lump on her breast and breast cancer runs in her family. So yeah. This really sucks.

NOTE: I post these comics up two to three days after they happen, and I try to write the corresponding blog posts as if it was still that day, even though I write them when I am posting the comic two to three days after the fact (hope that wasn’t too confusing). So I’ll break out of that for just this once here and say that on Friday (the 13th) Amy went to the doctor and they don’t think it’s anything, so she’s going to be ok. Just saying that now so you guys don’t worry too much and don’t have to wait until my comic for the 13th to find that out.

In my senior year at SCAD I noticed a really big (and growing) lump on the underside of my left armpit that scared the shit out of me for the few days before I could go get it checked. Just a weird viral thing I guess; I was put on an antibiotic and it disappeared in about two months. I hope you’re ok, Amy.

Scares like that suck big time even if you find out they’re ok in the end. My mother-in-law had a scare like that a while back two years ago. The worrying is horrible!

I’m glad it seems to be ok, though! Good luck with things.

As soon as I read the first panel, I knew that this was the medical thing you alluded to on twitter (so I knew it was okay) but my stomach still dropped.

    I’m really glad everything’s okay.

My thoughts and prayers are with Amy. I am so happy you went to the doctors. And more please to learn it is OK. I congratulate Amy for checking herself as all should. Get some rest and make sure Pranas takes good care of you.

Glad it was nothing. My mother has developed several “false alarm” lumps due to stress right after an intense fever.

Hey Pranas, just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading your comic– it’s strange to know so much about someone without knowing them at all! I was relieved to see that Amy is OK, I hope things go really well for both of you.

My wife went through the same thing, the doctor’s determined that she has fibersistic breast, she said its kind of painful during that one fabulous week of the month but other than that she said its not a real big deal right now. I hope that’s all it is, my wife and I wish Amy all luck in the world
