I won’t go into too much detail about what my brother said, but the general gist of it is he’s not having a great time in Iraq. It’s not what he was expecting.
It really sucks having your little brother be 5,000 or more miles away and not being able to do or say anything that would help him.

From what I heard, you were doing just fine as far as “helping” him–just listening and talking to him probably means a lot more than you think it does.

I agree. I live even further away from my family and it’s pretty incredible how much I appreciate them just listening to me. (Most of the time their suggestions, if they make them, aren’t really valid anyway.) I’m sure he’ll be alright.

hey P it seems the ones that really want to go there are the ones most unhappy when they get there. Just be an ear to listen to him, and let him know that when he comes home tell him that something that he really wants will be waiting for him. Our one friend Just wanted a bed at our place so he wouldnt be alone when he came back and a nice cold beer with friends. You’d be surprised at what your brother wants right now and it is what he will really need and I bet it is his big brother.

Yeah, Isaac. I am very glad he’s bored too. BUT…my fear though is that he’ll get so bored that he’ll do something stupid to himself or do something stupid and get himself and others in danger. I know he’s smarter than that, but war does things to people.
