inkdick: march 09 2009 you can’t park here
So St. Patrick’s Day is a pretty big deal here in Savannah, aka frat boy wannabe tourists flood the city, mostly River Street, to drink themselves silly. Normally, I’d find anything where massive amounts of beer are consumed to be a great thing, but not this year, now that I live in this town and work in this town. I’m going to be working that day on River Street, where most of the action is, and let me tell you, no one came to Savannah on St. Patty’s Day to buy peanuts. And since I’m closing on that day (ugh) and working the next morning, I won’t be able to partake in the drinking (double ugh).
And on top of that, now I can’t park my car on my own street because of the parade, which is one of the stupidest parades I have ever seen in my life. So now I have to find a place to park my car where it won’t get towed in this town.
Sometimes the bullshit of this town gets to me.

Man last years St Patrick’s day was awesome…the power went out citywide…and EVERYONE had to go home…..
It did suck about the tornadoes that were involved though, but still…ended it early…

Good god, I forgot about parking. I won’t be able to park in front of my own goddamned house because some drunk fuck is off pissing in the bushes somewhere.

I mean, I can’t wrap my head around the fact that it’ll be packed this far down from river street, we live almost a mile away. Dear god.

If you lay out the bags of packing peanuts right and there are enough of them, they make a decent bed, so we can take naps in the stockroom the next morning. I did it a few times during finals, and Justin and Heather used to do it on Sunday mornings when they’d been out all weekend.

Try living on the main drag in Gettysburg for “Bike Week.” Bikers don’t sleep. They just gun their engines, peel out and drink. Oh, they say “WOOOOOO!” a lot too.

I hate that kind of bullshit. When I lived in Pasadena, CA, we were a block away from the Rose Bowl route AND across the street from a catholic school. So whether it was rose bowl events or the elementary school events they held EVERY WEEKEND, our lives would be seriously inconvenienced. No parking, loud concerts early in the morning, etc.
So in other words, I feel your pain.

Aaaand that’s why every downtown resident who doesn’t work on River/Bay St gets the hell out of Savannah. I remember hearing on a tour that the population of Savannah triples on that weekend.

Um, Tetis, no. I was put on schedule for closing by my boss. I did not have a say in the matter. I don’t want to close that day.

And yes, that is a good Amy. I should draw her rolling her eyes more often, as she does it a lot in real life. Hrm.
