inkdick: march 30 2009 they always happen in threes…

So it’s been a shitty day, what with having next to no money, the place you work getting robbed the night before, and your mother getting diagnosed with cancer.

Bad things always seem to happen in groups of three.

Days like today make you feel so hopeless.

Strange, that when people hear of cancer, they immediately think of all the people they knew who DIED of cancer…?
Perhaps, they are at a loss for words.
They mean to be sympathetic, I’m sure…
BUT, they remember those that DIED!
That is not “good medicine” for people with cancer…
    Actually,
there are MANY, MANY more cancer “survivors”, than cancer “victims”.
When the doctor says: “You have an 80% chance of still being alive in 5 years”,
    MEANS:
that EIGHT out of 10 will be alive,
while only 2 out of 10 will not be alive.
    .
    8 = >2, is it not?
    .
    :-)
    .
    btw:
your mom was diagnosed with the the type of cancer, that if you HAD to have cancer, “that would be the BEST type of cancer to have”.

My pop has come threw more cancer than anyone else I know of, so I agree with Tetis!! Theres always hope! As far as work goes, that blows man. But nothing you coulda done about it had you been there. And the bank account is an issue everyone is having. So in the long run keep in there, if 3 bad things happen that means 3 good things are on their way!

Each one of us fights for our lives every day. Life is fragile and none of us will live forever. But, I have no intention of calling it quits. In fact, my younger son has come up with the initials: KCFA. Translated . . . Kick Cancer’s F’ing Ass. That is my mantra. I am fighting . . . I have a great medical team at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and support from family and friends. Please join me in the fight.

Along with the earlier comments, I’ll add that everyone I ever knew who had cancer is still alive and very healthy today. And that includes about half the women of my church when I was in high school, so it’s not a small number. And treatment has only gotten better since then.

I’m so sorry to hear that, Pranas. I’ve been following your journal comic for a while now and it’s hard not to feel somewhat involved. I hope all the best for you and your close ones! You will see, everything works out in the end.

I’m sorry things suck for you right now. But - what the other people said about people defeating cancer increasingly often.

Indeed, more people survive cancer, but we do die eventually by something. Every day is the ultimate day of accomplishing dreams.
