The last time I made this mistake, I ended up making a cheese and hot-dog slice omelette.

Yes Pranas IF you have crescent roll dough then that is the official way to go. However, you can get the same effect with bread in a pinch by wrapping and baking the hotdog/bread roll in a 350 oven until the bread toasts. Put a bit of cheese in the roll and you will be making this recipe on purpose (And not just because you are out of buns). This works well with ANY bread. My child loves the result and is something she can easily help make.

Geez, you do a comic about hot dogs and everyone has something to say! In the future, expect 47% more strips about hot dogs.

I've done the ghetto-dog thing before, I just don't like it.

For those who wonder why I didn't like it, texture is a HUGE part of how I eat, and it just doesn't have the texture of a bun. That, and as a kid my parents would never buy hot dog buns, so we had to use bread for buns. BUT my dad refused to buy white bread and would only buy the multi-grain bread with NUTS in it. That crap did NOT go well with a hot dog. So even when I have to use white bread as a bun, I still think about that nut-bread from my childhood. Yuk.

@KatanaGirl I always thought pigs in a blanket were hot dogs cooked inside crescent rolls. Because THOSE are delicious!

That's called a "Pig in a Blanket." Next time wrap the bread around a cooked hotdog, secure the wrap with a twist tie or toothpick, and place in the oven until the bread is toasted. If you have cheese put that in there too...its delicious.

Haha. I do that all the time. I usually toast the bread first though. It's not the best, but it works.
