I had my gall bladder out about two years ago. It wasn’t that bad at all.

Just read through the archives in one sitting. Looks like I found your comic right in time for daily updates!
Hope the surgery goes well for Amy!

I guess it’s too late to give advice now, but did they suck the gas back out after they removed the gall bladder (I’m assuming Amy got laprascopy). Apparently it was leaving the gas in that causes most people to have pain after the surgery. They made the extra incision for me to suck the gas out when I had my gall bladder removed, and I was able to rive 8 hours to Ohio the next day.
Oh, and I don’t know if the doctor mentioned this to you, but a lot of times it’s foods that are high in fat and cholesterol that trigger the painful gallstone attacks. Hearing that kept me from eating fast food for five years, even though it would have been impossible for me to have another gallstone attack.

We don’t think they sucked the gas out afterward. The nurses said the gas would leave on it’s own but hurt for 48 hours or so afterward. So it’s probably still in there.
Amy’s case was weird in that her attacks were almost never caused by fatty foods (with the exception of Thanksgiving dinner and my birthday cake). In fact Amy’s been eating super healthy the last few months and was STILL getting the attacks. One time an apple set it off. An apple! So it was weird. But hey, at least now the attacks will no longer a problem.

I’m glad Amy’s doing better.

Glad to hear Amy’s doing better.
My girlfriend also has gall bladder issues, so she’s decided to lay off red meat and fatty foods in hopes of alleviate some of the pressure on it. She really hopes not to have to get surgery some day, but sometimes those things are unavoidable.
