Hey man, I know exactly how you feel. At least nobody has called you a loser. I tutor students and one of them asked me “What do you do besides this?” “I do a lot of things.” “Pssht, you’re a loser.”
Your journal comic is the only journal comic I read.
The strips are so well put together. The style is clean and simple, but also unique and matches the tone. Also, your view on life is always refreshing.
You don’t know who I am, and you may never will, so this may mean little, but I think you’re anything but a loser. You’re a cool guy.
Hey, join the club! I think the important thing is that you keep drawing the comics. Don’t get caught up in ego about success or failure. The only was you can fail to be a cartoonist (because you are good at it) is to stop drawing/writing.
I went back to school to learn to do bookkeeping, something I can do part time to pay the bills, so I can free up time for drawing and creative projects.
I avoid turning art into a bill paying job. Art’s my fun, my expression and my escape. Turning it into a job just wouldn’t work. Some folks can do it, but it’s not for me. I don’t enjoy the process enough.

The secret is to find a job that’s like drawing comics, but pays better.
