crooks will always be crooks, sadly. Gun permits don’t justify misuse of firearms. I’m not anti-gun, but I’m all about anti-badguys. Those people suck.

Sorry to hear about your run-in with the criminal element. I got mugged my first day to work in New York and it shook me up for a while. Savanah is a great city, but there are a lot of other pretty, affordable places out there when you’re ready to leave. Have you thought about the West coast? Portland is pretty awesome.
