SO…that is why there were no new comics posted up. Sorry. Not my fault. And I most likely won’t be able to post comics again until I get back to Savannah on the 2nd or 3rd. So come back January 4th and catch up on my Xmas vacation “adventures”. See you then.

I grew up in the suburbs of Philly for the first ten years of my life, but for a majority of that time my parents were stationed at Ft. Dix, New Jersey which was an hour drive each way. So some days I’d go in with my parents, so part of my youth was spent growing up on base. I haven’t been back in this area since 1997 or 98 when we made a brief stop on the way up to New England.

I forgot about this wonderful tackiness that New Jersey has. And what is great about it is that the state seems aware of it and almost wears it like a badge of honor. Driving through we passed by shinny tinsel X-Mas decorations that seemed more at home in the 1960s than they did in today’s time. It was wonderful. I would never want to live in the middle of such tack, but it’s good every once in a while to drive though such a place, admire it, and pay honor to those who live it 365 days a year.

Since leaving home for school I just can’t get in the X-Mas spirit anymore. It just doesn’t excite me anymore. Maybe I’m growing up. Maybe I’m sick of the holiday fighting that occurs every time around this year. Maybe I just got too cynical. Whatever it is, I just can’t get excited. Not like I used to anyways.

So for a few months now there has been no wireless internet in my parents’ house in Woodbridge. The only internet is on my father’s computer that is hooked up directly to the modem. There WAS wirelsss, but something happened to it while I was gone. So my poor mom has been without internet in the house for some time now.

So I return, and I need internet. A) to post up these here comics and B) to pay some bills online. And there is the C) of keeping in contact with people, but that’s something I can live without for a week or so. We get a new wireless router and it’s the same one I use back in Savannah. So it should work fine.

I set it up, my dad freaking out all the way because he can’t stand when people mess with his computer (which in my mind is outdated and so littered with junk I’m surprised it works, but whatever). I set it up by the book, try it, and it works for a few minutes. Than it goes down and nothing. Than the internet on my dad’s computer stops working right.

Literally. The whole day. In my bed. Playing Pokemon. Pokemon Diamond to be exact.

I have a mountain of things to get done. The iDonates (which I am slowly getting through, so if you have one coming your way, hold tight, it’s coming). My Monster Mash Project. My website. My online store. Job hunting. Things like that. Yet I wasted all of today playing a video game.

I don’t know what it is about Woodbridge, but everytime I go back it drains all the energy and drive out of me. I just can’t get anything done when I’m there. I don’t know why. This is why I don’t like going back. If I ever had to move back there, that would be the death of me. I would stop doing comics, stop being creative, and for me that is a fate worse than death. So as bad as things may sometimes get in Savannah, it’s a whole lot better than Woodbridge.

But hey, Geodude did level up tons, and that guy is fucking BOSS.

But most likely I’ll be able to find a scanner. I hope.

Driving 8 plus hours by yourself is not fun. At all. Even if you’re doing all the driving yourself it would at least be bearable if there was someone there to talk to and share the experience with. Oh well.

And I can’t really complain about the lack of cruise control since I got the second-hand car for free. But still, it would save my leg on long drives like this one.

Amy WAS supposed to leave for Denver for two weeks via plane today. Yet on the way there she got a call from her mom telling her that her first flight was delayed and she’d miss her connection as a result. So she now wouldn’t leave until early tomorrow morning. Like, super early. And I have to drive her. But hey, it gives me a reason to start my 8 plus hour drive back to Woodbridge earlier that I would have started tomorrow.

Then we got pizza. Vinnie Van Go-Go’s to be exact.

Sometimes I wish I had chosen to do something more conventional with my life. Like become an accountant or farmer or something. But I had to become the artist. And a comic artist at that, so I’m really screwed. I can’t exactly go get a nine to five job at the comic factory and make a living right out of school. Not in comics anyways. It’s a scary time. My industry is shit (but hey, I do it for the art, man). I don’t know what the future holds for me. I can’t even get a part time job. Where will I move to if I move at all? What am I even DOING? I have so many options on the table and I have no clue on which one to go with.

I wish I could have stayed in school forever. At least there I had an excuse to not know what I was doing or where I was going and I didn’t any major worries about the future.

It’s been said a billion times before but growing up is for the birds, man.
